With Everything

“With everything,

With everything,

We will shout for your glory.

With everything,

With everything,

We will shout forth your praise.

Our hearts they cry

Be glorified,

Be lifted high,

Above all names.

For You our King,

With everything,

We will shout forth your praise.”

– Hillsong United

The lyrics of this song are iconic in the Christian church of today, and for a good reason! The entire message and cry of this song is that we will glorify God with everything we have.

What would it look like if we truly lived our lives in this way?

We would place more significance on the things of the Lord and less on the things of this world. We would care more about sharing hope and love with the world and less about materialistic things. There would be a satisfaction and contentment that would come as we began to lift God up in everything.

Yes, these are lyrics to a contemporary song, but this concept is clearly stated throughout scripture. When you look at the men and women who walked with God throughout scripture, it is clear that the concept of devoting their entire life to God was a consistent theme.

“And you shall love the Lord your God

with all your heart,

and with all your soul,

and with all your mind,

and with all your strength:

this is the first commandment.”

– Mark 12:30

In Mark, we are told to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Let’s take a moment to think of how we can do this daily and in turn live a life completely abandoned to God.

In order to love God with all of our heart, soul, mind, and strength, we must submit our emotions, will, thoughts, desires, dreams, and time to Him. This is a lifelong journey and we will grow and learn as time goes on, however, there are ways to begin to do this today!

One way is to begin to acknowledge God throughout your day. Include Him in even the mundane things you do each day. Resolve to not make important life decisions without praying about them first. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you and bring peace when you are making decisions pleasing to the Lord.

We encourage you today to think of ways you can worship and praise God with everything you have, glorifying His name above all else!

“So let hope rise,

And darkness tremble

In Your holy light,

And every eye will see

Jesus, our God,

Great and mighty to be praised.

God of all days,

Glorious in all of Your ways.

Your majesty, the wonder and grace,

In the light of Your name.”
