Be the Hands and Feet of Jesus

 “So shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;

it shall not return to me empty,

but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,

and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.”

Isaiah 55:11

We are the hands and feet of Jesus.

This is certainly a bold statement, and one that can absolutely change the world as we know it as more and more believers in Christ take action in response to this statement.

Let’s dig a little deeper into this phrase.

If you think about the function of a person’s hands and feet they are one of the most useful and crucial parts to a person’s life.  Our feet are what hold up our entire body, enabling us to walk.  They take us places and make us mobile.  Our hands are what we use to function and perform almost every task daily.  We use our hands to eat, drive, get dressed, write, etc.  If we took the time, we could fill pages and pages of things that our hands and feet enable us to do and that enable us to accomplish.

As we look into this we realize just how important hands and feet are.  That they allow us to live life to the fullest and achieve the most with the time we have.  Now let’s revisit that statement…

We are the hands and feet of Jesus.

Think of what this implies about us and what our role is in accomplishing the will of the Father on the Earth.  We have the unique ability to live our lives with the passion and love of Jesus Christ.  We have the ability to make decisions, move, and act based on the things we know the Father cares about.

“Jesus came and told his disciples,

‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth.

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.

And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’”

Matthew 28:18-20

This is why we see a child and our soul is moved.

We know that God’s heart beats for the orphans and widows.  And we know that we were placed on this Earth to be the hands and feet of Jesus!  Combining these two things leads us to a powerful realization that we can be the answer to prayers.  We can take our time, energy, and resources, look into the eyes of a child and tell them that they matter and they are not a mistake.

The interesting thing about being the hands and feet of Jesus is that as you act this out and you begin to step out in faith to change the world, you are the one that is changed the most.

Experiencing selfless giving, bringing hope to the hopeless, and bringing the power of the gospel to places like Albania and Nepal begins to transform your view of the world.  You begin to see life through the perspective of the Father.

This is why we act so boldly and move instead of being stagnant.

So today, whether it is sponsoring a child, signing up for a mission trip, or just saying hello to someone in passing, we encourage you to be the hands and feet of Jesus with us!
